I've always had a passion for history and got my first taste of the antiques trade working for a family business over 15 years ago. Moving up to Scotland in 2011 saw me secure a position with one of the city's most prolific auction-houses and this was the beginning of a journey that took me from saleroom porter to fully-fledged auctioneer. Along the way, I've been on the start-up team of two Edinburgh-based auction houses and I'm excited to bring those skills to Donaldson & Company.
My personal area of interest lies in watches and antiquarian books, and when I'm not tinkering with a timepiece or have my nose buried in the pages of a centuries-old read, I research and value items brought into my own business, the Edinburgh Antiques Centre, established in 2016 (if you're a TV fan, check us out on BBC Two's Antiques Road Trip!).
With more services going online, I'm excited to see what a hybrid physical/virtual auction house can do for the industry, and how many countries our lots might be sent to! I'm thrilled to be getting back on the rostrum, gavel in hand.
